SMART Award in 1999
SMART is the DTI's (Department of Trade and Industry) package of support to help individuals and small and medium size firms to research, develop or acquire technologies needed to turn good ideas into commercial products. SMART awards are made on a competitive basis.

In 1999 Durham Organics Limited received a SMART award for a feasibility study into the use of Flash-Vacuum Pyrolysis on a commercial scale, with particular emphasis on its use in the production of biphenylenes.

Business-Excellence Awards 1998 - Runner up for the Innovation Award
Durham Organics was honoured at the County Durham TEC 1998 Business Excellence Awards when it was runner-up in the Innovation Category sponsored by Business Link County Durham.

Two Trigger-Fund Awards, in 1997 and 2000
Trigger-Fund Awards were administered by Business Link County Durham and provided funding to cover the employment costs of a new research post for technology based companies in County Durham.
Durham Organics has received two such awards:

In 1997 - for a project to develop a range of Chloro- and Bromo- Anilines.

In 2000 - for a still on-going project to develop a new range of products
